A friendly, neighborhood gastropub featuring fine food in an upscale pub environment. A gastropub is a relatively new concept in California. It was borne out of the old brew pubs in Northern Europe where the microbeers were some of the best in the world.
The gastropub (as in gastronomy) elevated the food to a much higher level and eventually found its way to the U.S. in the 1990’s. London Gastropub promises to be an excellent addition to Old Town while contributing to the area’s growing nightlife.
Gastropub concentrates on quality food. The name is a combination of pub and gastronomy and was coined in 1991 when David Eyre and Mike Belben took over The Eagle pub in Clerkenwell, London. The concept of a restaurant in a pub reinvigorated both pub culture and British dining.
